In this lesson, we will define data and information and examine the value in identifying, communicating, and preserving these things.  We will also look at delve into models and how they can aid in the afore-mentioned task. 

Those interested in improving communication, both within an organization and when dealing with others, will find this module useful.

In this lesson, you will understand how to identify data and information as well as methods to preserve them in various circumstances that threaten their integrity and safety.  You will also learn how to effectively communicate this using various models and methods.  This lesson will touch on principles that will be covered in other modules and will be mentioned here, but will not be explored in depth.  During this module, we will look at data and information in the digital environment.  We will also cover what provides visibility of data and information across domains, disciplines and organizations. Finally, we will delve into technical baseline and various models that can be used to help with communication, data and information preservation.
