Event Description: The Middle Tier of Acquisition (MTA) was launched with the FY16 NDAA and implemented in April 2018 by USD (A&S). While individual Services established MTA policy for their Service and OSD organizations provided additional guidance and governance, USD (A&S) published DoDI 5000.80, “Operation of the Middle Tier of Acquisition” in December 2019, setting MTA policy.
