MOSA (Modular Open System Approach) is an integrated business and
technical strategy employing a modular design to achieve competitive and
affordable acquisition and sustainment. Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) and Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
are being used increasing in industry and DoD has an interest in industry
convergence. But the DoD Enterprise Architecture (EA) community also wants to
break away from architecture as templates to be filled-out which can seem like
filling out a government form – this is not what architecting should be.
DoD wants to
evolve towards usage focus, in which the architects determine the architecture
data to be developed based upon actual uses of the data. At the same time, DoD wants architectures to
be better integrated and to dovetail-with and flow-into downstream systems engineering
processes and model development, in particular Digital Engineering and
MBSE. Further use of Modeling,
Simulation, and Analysis (MSA) tools and techniques is desired to evaluate architecture
alternatives. Yet further downstream,
DoD seeks architecture methodologies that flow into software engineering and
modernized software development, e.g., DevSecOps.
Please join us
for an important discussion on DoD’s goal of a new architecture framework that
will support modernization, optimization, and integration goals and
objectives. There will be a Q&A
portion to the webinar.
