CLC 139, Acquisition of Commercial Items was created in response to the FY18 NDAA. The continuous learning module comprises over 30 separate videos, text content, and knowledge reviews. Each video embedded in CLC 139 has been uploaded to the CON Media Page for easy access by the acquisition workforce. In this video, we explain the results of a benchmarking study conducted with commercial firms. Specifically, when identifying best practices when procuring commercial items, the team found commercial firms request cost data, rely on competition, use firm fixed-price contracts, and manage their supplier base through vertical integration and partnerships.
