To fill the void of opportunities afforded for collaboration by face-to-face events such as the annual DoD Maintenance Symposium, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment, HON Jordan Gillis, is establishing a virtual, quarterly Sustainment Series. The inaugural offerings are scheduled for the week of Dec 6, 2020 and start with the annual Maintenance Innovation Challenge on Dec 7, 2020, followed by an opening session featuring a Global Conditions keynote on Dec 8, 2020. Two intriguing panels titled 1).How Many Rubber Gloves Do You Actually Have? - Joint Force Logistics Lessons Learned from COVID-19 presented by the Joint Staff and 2) The Challenges to Our Organic Industrial Base Mosaic curated by Principal Deputy Secretary of Defense for Logistics will follow. The Sustainment Series will operate on a quarterly schedule and provide the opportunity to examine and discuss timely and relevant issues the maintenance and sustainment communities are facing.
Description: Explore the complexities of ensuring the organic industrial base (OIB) keeps pace with the demands of rapidly evolving high-tech weapon systems and contested battlespace conditions.
