Earned Value Management (EVM) encompasses both Performance Measurement and Performance Management. EVM uses earned value data and uses it as a program management tool to analyze contract cost and schedule performance. EVM is the translation of technical scope into an integrated project plan which tracks cost and schedule information using a work breakdown structure (WBS), organization breakdown structure (OBS), and an integrated master schedule (IMS). EVM assists in forecasting future costs, schedule and technical performance, and identifies the data for corrective action plans to get the program back on track.
