AFLCMC IPS Element Focus on Sustaining Engineering Week 3 (22 APR 2024)

Week 3 Sustaining Engineering Integrated Product Support Element (IPSE) training to life cycle logisticians and other acquisition and sustainment members from throughout Air Force Life Cycle Management Command (AFLCMC).  Professor Paul Smith provided a review of Lesson 1 Sustaining Engineering fundamentals and took a deeper look at the Product Support Manager and Life Cycle Logistician's Supportability and other challenges such as multi-disciplinary activities and stakeholder management.  Reference IPS Element Guidebook Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements Guidebook, pp. 91 - 114. Training focused on influencing system design early and throughout as an enabler for affordable readiness; how activities within the Sustaining Engineering IPSE are critical for synchronization and tailoring of the other IPSEs and for collaboration with other functional areas (e.g., Engineering); guidance and best practices for planning and execution of contracting instruments and agreements to actuate product support activities; and the essential role of the Life Cycle Sustainment Plan (LCSP) in driving codified planning and activities from system cradle to grave.
