Zero Trust for Military Healthcare: -An Overview - DAU’s Professor of Cybersecurity, Dr. Paul Shaw tailored a special presentation for the DHA community. This webinar provides an overview to better understand our DoD Zero Trust (ZT) objectives and the potential
benefits for military healthcare.
Dr. Shaw leverages
knowledge and experiences with other DoD organizations on Zero Trust implementation for application to
the military healthcare environment. ZT Implementation is the DoD CIO’s “Number
One Priority.” Healthcare information
flow is complex and dynamic with multiple operational, regulatory, and
infrastructural constraints.
DHA does not have a "one size" fits all for ZT
implementation. Instead ZT implementation
will vary across: DHA’s headquarters; 400+ clinics, hospitals, and medical
centers; and Enterprise Support Activities.
Translating the DoD CIO’s “Zero Trust Strategy,” “Zero Trust Execution
Roadmap,” and “Zero Trust Reference Architecture” from security objectives to
engineering implementation will require navigating implementation “gaps,” “pain
points,” and “”second – third order effects.”
While challenging - the opportunity to transform cybersecurity operations
and allow healthcare operations to detect/counter more advanced cyber threats
make this journey worthy of exploration.
This webinar assists DHA personnel on their security
engineering and architectural journey to achieve DoD security objectives - yet
acknowledge healthcare operational, regulatory, and infrastructure issues.
