Mr Kendall on Leaders Expertise (1:48 minutes) Mr Kendall is asked five questions on leadership. This video is on the fifth questions, “What competencies, skills and/or behaviors should acquisition leaders possess and does this change with functional career field or specific leadership positions? He notes that the leadership needs to be an expert in the field to lead in the field. The acquisition field is a collection of experts in various areas, like system engineering or logistics. Must be able to deal with complexity. Leaders need to have personnel skills, such as integrity, self-confidence without arrogance, the ability to work with people, to be able to challenge and stretch folks. Leadership is leadership, but leading in acquisition adds a layer of complexity.
