DoDI 5000.90 was signed into law on December 31, 2020. This instruction states that cybersecurity is a foundational requirement in the Defense Acquisition System (DAS) and must encompass platforms, weapons, and the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) and must be regularly assessed, properly resourced, and continually mitigated. Cybersecurity must be addressed in all acquisition programs using any of the acquisition pathways of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF), at all classification levels, and throughout the entire acquisition and sustainment life cycle. This presentation will cover the key aspects of this important new policy and look at its ramifications throughout DoD acquisition.
