Interview with LTG David Bassett - Perspectives of Acquisition Leaders (PALs)

The guest speaker for today’s session is LTG David Bassett, who currently serves as Director of the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). Prior to that, LTG Bassett served as the Program Executive Officer for Command, Control and Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T). His other past assignments include serving as the PEO For Ground Combat Systems, Deputy PEO for Program Executive Office for Combat Support and Combat Service Support and as the Project Manager for the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle Program and for Tactical Vehicles. LTG Bassett explains the important role of DCMA as the independent eyes and ears of DoD and its partners in ensuring timely delivery of quality products, and providing relevant acquisition insight supporting affordability and readiness. He introduces the concept of program alignment of requirements, technologies, money and acquisition strategy as well as gives insights to leading people, the professionalism of the acquisition workforce, and lessons learned from a variety of acquisition programs.
